A line that just says "probiotic blend" tells you very little. 2. ### Look for a CFU number CFU stands for colony-forming units, the count of live bacteria. No CFU number means nothing to compare. 3. ### Check when it was counted "At manufacture" is the count on day one. Bacteria die off over time, so "at expiration" is the stronger promise. 4. ### Notice how you take it Oral probiotics are usually melted or chewed slowly, not swallowed whole. Of these two, GumAktiv adds Streptococcus salivarius, a species you'll often see in breath-focused products, though its label doesn't name the strain. ProDentim relies on peppermint for its fresh taste. Neither page shows any data on breath from its own formula. If bad breath sticks around after good brushing, flossing and cleaning your tongue, see a dentist.
